What is Hydraulic Jack?
A hydraulic jack is a tool that lifts heavy loads using fluid pressure. It works because of Pascal’s principle. According to this principle, pressure in a closed fluid moves in every direction the same way. A small force on the pump piston creates high pressure. That pressure then acts on a larger cylinder piston to lift the weight.
What makes the cylinder pipe critical? The pipe holds the piston. It keeps the high-pressure fluid inside during work. It must have a smooth bore so the piston seal stays in contact. If the wall thickness isn't the same all around, the pressure won't be equal. The pipe needs to be strong enough so it does not fail.
MS hydraulic jack pipes are precision mild steel pipes made for this application. We hone or skive the internal surface to a mirror finish. This helps the seals work and stops fluid from leaking.
Requirements of MS Hydraulic Jacks
Cylinder pipes for jacks must meet the following requirements:
- Smooth Bore Finish: The roughness on the inside of this pipe is less than Ra 0.4 μm. This mirror finish lets seals make proper contact. It stops leaks while you are using the jack.
- High Tensile Strength: The strength is at least 400 MPa. This stops the pipe from changing shape under pressure. It survives many uses over a long time.
- Consistent Wall Thickness: The thickness stays within 10% of the target. A uniform wall means the stress gets evenly distributed. This prevents weak spots.
- Good Pressure Containment: These handle 700 bar working pressure. We include a safety factor. The burst pressure is usually four times the normal rating.
