What is Grade 1025?

Grade 1025 is a low-medium carbon steel. It has more carbon (0.22-0.28%) than 1020 (0.18-0.23%). This gives it better strength. It stays easy to weld. Because of this, it is about 5-10% stronger when you look at tensile and yield. The grade hits a good spot for machining, shaping, welding, and mechanical traits. It reacts well to case hardening like carburising. This is useful for parts that need a hard outside but a tough middle.

Applications

OOur 1025 steel tubing works in 7 major industrial areas. These places need strength, easy machining, welding, and shaping.

Hydraulic Cylinder Barrels

Seamless 1025 tubes have a steady wall thickness and a smooth bore. This is vital for hydraulic cylinders. The material is strong for middle-range pressure. You can hone and finish it easily.

Shafts, Axles & Spindles

Power transmission components including drive shafts, axle tubes, and machine spindles benefit from the 1025 grade's combination of strength and machinability. Case hardening can be applied for improved bearing surface wear resistance.

Machinery Parts

General machinery components such as rollers, guides, spacers, and support tubes use 1025 steel for its balanced properties. The grade machines easily and accepts various surface treatments.

Automotive Components

Steering columns, cross members, suspension arms, and structural tubes in automotive applications utilise 1025 for its weldability and formability. The grade meets requirements for safety-critical components.

Precision Engineering Components

Precision mechanical parts requiring tight tolerances and smooth finishes use cold drawn 1025 tubing. The consistent chemistry ensures predictable machining behaviour for high-accuracy components.

Structural and Mechanical Assemblies

Frames, brackets, and welded assemblies for equipment and machinery employ 1025 tubing for its excellent weldability without preheat requirements. The material maintains good ductility in welded joints.

Bushings & Sleeves

Wear sleeves, bearing bushings, and coupling sleeves benefit from 1025 steel's ability to be case hardened. The tough core resists shock loading while the hardened surface provides wear resistance.
