What is Grade 1035?

Grade 1035 is a medium carbon steel. Heat treatment improves its hardness and strength. This 1035 tube has a balance of strength and machinability. With 0.32-0.38% carbon, it reacts well to quench and temper heat treatment. It keeps reasonable weldability if you use the right preheat steps. This grade is common when you need moderate strength and good wear resistance. It has less carbon than 1040 or 1045 grades.

Applications

The 1035 steel tube serves 5 major industrial applications:

Structural Applications

Load-bearing frames, supports, and structural members benefit from the combination of strength and toughness that 1035 tubing provides.

Machinery Parts

Shafts and couplings use 1035 tube because the metal responds to heat treatment. It has good machinability. Spindles are another use.

Fabrication Projects

Welded assemblies use 1035 tubing. You must use proper preheat procedures. It is used for fabricated structures needing moderate strength.

Pipelines

Industrial fluid transfer lines use the durability of 1035 seamless tubing. Apart from this, it is used for process piping in moderate pressure setups.

Automotive Industry

Axle tubes, drive shaft components, and structural automotive parts use 1035 tubing for its balance of strength, formability, and weldability.
